Product information

Clean your upstairs windows from the patio. No ladder, no waiting. The Cleansage HydroPole is a water fed telescopic window cleaning pole kit for UK homes and small shops. It connects to your garden tap and extends to 4.6m (15ft) or 7m (24ft), so you can scrub, rinse and squeegee first-floor windows, fascias, conservatory roofs, greenhouses and solar panels while you stand safely on the ground.

It's a complete kit, not just a pole: 8.5m hose, water-fed brush, soap dispenser, squeegee, microfibre cloth, cobweb brush and tap fittings are all in the box. Verified buyers rate it 4.5 out of 5.

Why a water fed telescopic window cleaning pole beats the ladder

You've probably been here. The window cleaner turns up when it suits them, does the glass and nothing else, and your white uPVC slowly goes green and grey. So you drag out the ladder, balance a bucket on the top rung and promise yourself you'll never do it again.

We get it. You just want the whole outside of your house clean, on the day you choose, without a wobbly ladder. That's exactly what a telescopic window cleaner pole, water fed from your outside tap, is for. Water runs from your tap, up the pole, and out through the brush, so you scrub and rinse in one pass with both feet on the ground. No bucket, no climbing, and you can do the frames and the fascias while you're at it.

What makes the Cleansage HydroPole different from other window cleaning poles

We've used a lot of water fed poles, and the same small things annoy people every time. So we fixed them. These three are worth knowing about before you compare us with anything else.

The hose leaves from the side, so the pole can stand on the ground

On many poles the hose comes out of the very bottom end. That sounds minor until you try to rest the pole on the floor between windows: the hose ends up trapped underneath and gets bent, crushed and eventually damaged. The HydroPole has an adaptor at the base where the hose exits from the side instead. Stand the pole on the patio, take a breather, pick it up again, and the hose stays out of the way.

Two grips for a steadier hold, even with wet hands

Cleaning is wet work, and a long pole is all about control at full stretch. Two grips are positioned along the pole so each hand has a secure place to hold when it's extended and in use. Wet hands don't slide down the pole, and it stays steadier while you scrub.

Clamps spread apart, so your fingers stay clear

Extension clamps are where fingers get caught. On many poles the clamps sit close together, which leaves a pinch point right under your hand as you slide a section. We spread the clamps out along the HydroPole, so there's a gap between them and nothing to trap your fingers when you extend or collapse the pole.

A hose adaptor you tighten by hand

People ask us what sort of screw head the adaptor takes, expecting to hunt for a screwdriver. You don't need one. It's a ribbed hose tail about 1.5cm across at the mouth, held by a star-shaped knob you turn with your fingers.

A few more details you'll notice

  • Inline tap at the start of the hose. Switch the water on and off without a walk back to the outside tap.
  • Adjustable inline soap dispenser. Dial in your mix as you go. No bucket needed.
  • Hose inside or outside the pole. Thread it through for a tidy setup, or run it along the outside if you swap between jobs a lot.
  • Standard screw thread at the pole tip. Many universal threaded tools fit, so you're not locked in to our attachments.

What's in the window cleaning pole kit

  • Telescopic aluminium pole: 4.6m (15ft) or 7m (24ft). Rust-free, and it collapses small enough for the shed.
  • Water-fed brush, 30 × 7.5cm: soft bristles are gentle on glass, uPVC and solar panels, and they lift road film, pollen and green algae.
  • 8.5m hose and inline tap: runs water to the brush head. The inline tap switches the flow on and off.
  • Soap dispenser, 100ml: sits in the hose line with a dial to set your mix.
  • Squeegee and microfibre cloth: for a crisp, streak-free finish on glass, doors and panels.
  • Cobweb brush and tap fittings: the cobweb brush clears soffits and porch eaves. The fittings connect to a standard garden tap, no tools needed.

That's the difference between a kit and a bare pole. Buy a pole on its own and you still need the brush, the hose, the fittings and a way to add detergent before you can clean anything.

Which length do I need: 4.6m (15ft) or 7m (24ft)?

  • 4.6m (15ft) window wash telescopic pole: bungalows, ground-floor windows, single-storey extensions and conservatory roofs. It's also the right size for greenhouses and garden outbuildings, and it reaches the solar panels on their roofs from the ground. Lighter at 1.56kg, with plenty of reach once you add your own arm height.
  • 7m (24ft) extendable window cleaning pole: two-storey terraced, semi-detached or detached houses, bay windows, gable ends and solar panels on a pitched roof.
  • Shopfront or shutters: 4.6m for a single-storey front, 7m for signs above the first floor.

Not sure? Pick the 7m. It only extends as far as you need it to, so it copes with low windows too.

How to clean upstairs windows from the ground in 4 steps

Allow about 15 minutes to set everything up the first time. Threading the hose through the pole is the slow part, so don't rush it.

  1. Connect. Screw the tap connector onto your outside tap and clip the hose on. Thread the hose through the pole so it passes through the side of the base adaptor, or run it along the outside of the pole if you prefer.
  2. Set your mix. Add a little mild detergent to the soap dispenser and turn the dial to its lowest setting. Turn it up until you see light suds on the brush.
  3. Scrub from the top. Check above you for power lines and cables first. Then extend the pole, hold it by the grips and work the brush from the top of the window downwards: frame first, then glass.
  4. Rinse and finish. Turn the dial to plain water and rinse top to bottom. Then squeegee or buff with the microfibre for a spotless finish.

Watch the 60-second Quick Connect Guide below before your first clean.

Most people buy this for the windows and then find they use it for everything else.

  • Windows and frames: upstairs, bay and hard-to-reach gable windows.
  • Fascias, soffits and gutter fronts: bring green-streaked uPVC back to white.
  • Conservatory roofs: clear algae and leaves without climbing on the roof.
  • Greenhouses and garden outbuildings: the 4.6m is the ideal size, and it reaches solar panels on their roofs too.
  • Solar panels: rinse away dust and bird mess with the soft brush. Always follow your panel maker's cleaning guidance.
  • Shopfronts: signs, shutters and glass fronts, between contractor visits or instead of them.
  • Cobwebs: porch eaves, garage trims and high indoor corners.

Safety first: keep this aluminium pole away from electricity

WARNING: RISK OF ELECTRIC SHOCK

The HydroPole is made of aluminium, so it conducts electricity, and so does water. It's a brilliant way to stay off the ladder, but only if you use it well away from anything live. Contact with live electrical wires can cause serious injury or death.

  • Keep this pole well away from overhead power lines. Contact with live electrical wires can cause serious injury or death.
  • Do not use it near electrical installations.
  • Always be aware of your surroundings before extending the pole, and look up first.
  • This pole is conductive. Do not use it in or around power lines.

If you're not sure the area is clear, don't extend the pole. Pick another day or another spot. The same warning is printed on the pole itself.

Get the best from your water fed window cleaning pole

  • Easier handling at full length: only extend as far as the job needs. Keep the pole close to upright, hold it by the two grips and rest the base near your hip or foot, so the weight sits on the ground or your hip and not your arms. For the lightest possible feel, see the carbon fibre HydroPole Pro3K, up to 43% lighter.
  • Hose inside or outside? Inside the pole keeps things tidy for regular window cleaning. If you swap between jobs a lot, run the hose along the outside and secure it with two or three hook-and-loop straps. The pole then collapses in seconds.
  • Dial in the soap: start with the dispenser dial on its lowest setting and increase it slowly. A light lather is all you need. Rinse the dispenser through with clean water after each use.
  • Use your own attachments: the pole tip has a standard screw thread, so many universal threaded tools fit, such as a stiffer brush for moss or a paint roller on shorter lengths. Hand-tighten only.
  • Keep the brush head tight: give it a firm hand-tighten before you start, and check it if it begins to turn as you work.

Water fed window cleaning pole questions answered

What is a water fed window cleaning pole?

A water fed window cleaning pole is a telescopic pole with a hose running up to a brush at the top. Water flows through to the brush while you scrub, so you wash and rinse in one pass from the ground. The Cleansage HydroPole is a window cleaning pole water fed straight from an ordinary garden tap, with an inline soap dispenser, so there's no bucket, no ladder and no separate water supply to set up.

What is the difference between a water fed pole and an ordinary window cleaning pole?

An ordinary window cleaning pole just holds a brush or a squeegee, so you still need a bucket and you keep coming back down to rinse it. A telescopic window cleaning pole water fed from your tap carries water all the way up to the brush head, so the glass is rinsed as you work. It's quicker, and it's the reason you can do a whole first floor without touching a ladder.

What is high reach window cleaning equipment?

High reach window cleaning equipment is any kit that lets you clean windows, frames and roofline above head height while you stay on the ground. In practice that means a telescopic pole, a brush that water feeds through, a hose from your tap and a way to add detergent. For a house, a water fed telescopic window cleaning pole is the usual choice, because it reaches first-floor glass and the fascias without a ladder or a tower.

How do I choose the best water fed window cleaning pole for a UK home?

Work through four things. Reach: 4.6m (15ft) covers a bungalow, an extension or a single-storey front, and 7m (24ft) covers a typical two-storey house. Weight: aluminium costs less, carbon fibre is lighter and easier to hold overhead for long spells. Contents: a bare pole still needs a brush, a hose, fittings and a way to add soap, so check the kit is complete. Handling: look for grips where your hands actually go, extension clamps that are spread apart so they can't pinch your fingers, and a hose that leaves the side of the pole rather than the bottom end, so you can rest the pole on the ground without crushing it.

How much should a water fed telescopic window cleaning pole cost in the UK?

Complete homeowner kits generally run from about £60 to £140, depending on the length, the material and how much is in the box. The Cleansage HydroPole is £65.99 for the 4.6m (15ft) and £87.99 for the 7m (24ft), and both include the brush, the 8.5m hose, the soap dispenser, the squeegee, the microfibre cloth, the cobweb brush and the tap fittings, so there's nothing else to buy. Carbon fibre poles cost more than aluminium because they're lighter to hold.

Which length do I need for a two-storey house?

Choose the 7m (24ft) HydroPole for a typical UK two-storey house. It reaches first-floor windows, fascias and soffits from the ground. The 4.6m (15ft) suits bungalows, extensions, ground-floor windows, conservatory roofs, greenhouses and garden outbuildings.

How long does it take to set up? Do I need tools?

Allow about 15 minutes the first time. No tools are needed: you screw the connector onto your garden tap, thread the hose through the pole and out of the side of the base adaptor, fit the brush and fill the soap dispenser. Threading the hose is the part that takes the longest, so it's worth doing it unhurried.

Can I use tap water with the HydroPole?

Yes. The HydroPole runs on ordinary tap water from your garden tap. Scrub with a light mix from the soap dispenser, rinse with plain water, then finish with the squeegee or microfibre cloth. In hard-water areas, drying the glass stops limescale spots from forming.

Can I connect a pure water (deionised) filter?

Yes. Because the HydroPole is hose fed, you can fit an inline deionised or pure-water filter between your tap and the hose. Pure water dries without spots, so you can rinse and leave the glass to dry. Filters are sold separately by specialist suppliers, and we don't sell one. Check that the filter uses standard garden-hose fittings.

How heavy is the pole?

The aluminium 4.6m pole weighs 1.56kg and the 7m pole weighs 2.5kg. If you'd like something lighter, the carbon fibre HydroPole Pro3K weighs 1.01kg (4.6m) and 1.42kg (7m), up to 43% lighter.

Can I clean a conservatory roof, greenhouse or garden outbuilding with it?

Yes. The 4.6m (15ft) pole reaches across most conservatory roofs from the ground, and it's a good size for greenhouses and garden outbuildings too. It can also reach solar panels on the roof of an outbuilding or garage. The water-fed brush lifts algae and leaf stains, and the rinse carries the dirt away. Always stay on the ground.

Is it safe to use on solar panels?

Yes, the soft-bristle brush is gentle enough for solar panels when used with water and a mild detergent. Clean from the ground, never climb onto the roof, and always follow your panel manufacturer's cleaning guidance.

Can I use the HydroPole near power lines or electrical wires?

No. The HydroPole is an aluminium pole and it conducts electricity, and so does water. Keep it well away from overhead power lines and never use it in or around them. Don't use it near electrical installations either, and always check your surroundings, including above you, before you extend the pole. Contact with live electrical wires can cause serious injury or death.

What type of screw head does the adaptor have?

There's no screwdriver head to worry about. The adaptor is a ribbed hose tail, sometimes called a hose barb, about 1.5cm (15mm) wide at the mouth. It's held in place by a star-shaped knob that you tighten by hand, so you don't need a screwdriver, spanner or Allen key.

Where does the hose come out at the bottom of the pole?

From the side. On many poles the hose comes out of the very bottom end, which makes it hard to rest the pole on the ground without damaging the hose. The HydroPole has an adaptor at the base where the hose exits from the side, so you can stand the pole on the ground between windows and the hose stays protected.

Does the pole have grips for wet hands?

Yes. Two grips are positioned along the pole so you have a secure place to hold when it's extended and in use. They help stop wet hands slipping and give you better control of the pole.

Can I trap my fingers in the extension clamps?

We've designed against it. The extension clamps are spread apart along the pole, so there's no spot where two clamps sit together and pinch. That keeps your fingers clear when you extend and collapse the sections. Many poles don't address this.

Will other attachments fit the pole?

The pole tip has a standard screw thread, so many universal threaded cleaning tools fit, such as a stiffer brush for moss. The included cobweb brush and squeegee screw straight on. Hand-tighten only.

How do I get a streak-free finish?

Clean on a dull or cool day so water doesn't dry too fast. Work from the top down, rinse with plain water once the soap is off, then squeegee the glass or buff it with the microfibre cloth.

Happy with the pole and the adjustability. The standard screw fitting allows for use of third party attachments i.e paint roller on shorter extensions or a stiffer bristle brush for moss removal. One down side is it being a plastic screw so hopefully it lasts.

Some fittings leak a little on the hose line but i will probably look to change these out. Running the hose in the pole is a pain, making retraction difficult or changing for different uses. I just ran it outside the pole instead. Would recommend 2 people for using the hose line or possibly taping the valve to the bottom pole.

The soap dispenser seems cheap and fragile making working out flow rate difficult (i want to try using it for moss killer on the roof but think i may have to come up with different application solution and just use the brush for agitation.

Alot quicker and easier than jumping up a down a ladder all day, but can be a bit unruly at longer reaches which is to be expected, still anyone reasonably able bodied should be ok.

Time will tell about durability.

Easy to construct. Only criticism is the weight and as I went for the 7m one at 67 I found it quite difficult when fully extended that’s why it’s 4 stars for me but quality product for the money.

Well made, fairly easy to assemble and works really well.

Really like this window cleaning pole, does the job and was very easy to set up, really like the inline soap dispenser which is adjustable.

Extends easily to clean the windows on our Victorian 2 story house.

Comes with a cleaning brush for cobwebs etc. Remember the longer the length of pole the more cumbersome it becomes. No issue for me a 58 year old male.

A decent enough bit of kit. Ideally I'd give it three and a half stars.

I thought the instructions it came with were dreadful. With no instructions on how to attach to a garden hose. But I worked it out.

It's a bit heavy, but it does make cleaning my windows and conservatory roof much quicker and easier, which is why I bought it. Far easier than a bucket and sponge.

I would buy again.

Great for The Price.

Just to do my own Gutters facias and soffit.

Works really well.

Detergent feed ideal for a bit of extra help shifting dirt,.

Head of brush can be bit fiddly , unless you get the tightness right it tends to work loose.

Other than that it's ideal for DIY

Robust and well made. Took some getting used to controlling the brush when fully extended but cleaned my soffits etc really well. The soap dispenser is a bit hit and miss because flow control on the bottle isn't easy to understand. Maybe i'll suss it with more use. The only difficulty i had was the brush head turning as i was using it, so i had to retighten a couple of times. It's a good piece of kit though, and I'd definitely recommend it.
