True clean and dirty water separation
With an ordinary mop bucket the water turns grey after the first room, and every dip puts that dirt back on the floor. Plenty of buckets now claim to separate clean and dirty water, but many still rinse the pad in a shared well where fresh water meets the dirt you've just lifted.

What is a clean and dirty water mop?
A clean and dirty water mop is a mop and bucket set that keeps fresh water and used water in separate chambers, so the pad is only ever rinsed in clean water. With an ordinary mop bucket the water turns grey after the first room and you mop the rest of the house with it. With true separation, the last room gets water as clean as the first.
How can I tell if a mop bucket truly separates clean and dirty water?
Check three things. The pad should be wetted from the clean side, not dipped into shared water. Used water should go into its own chamber. Is a clean and dirty water mop more hygienic than a normal mop and bucket?
Yes. A normal mop bucket puts the dirt you've just lifted back onto the pad with every dip, so you spread it into the next room. Separating clean and dirty water means each rinse uses fresh water, and the dirt stays in the dirty chamber until you drain it.
Do I need to change the water between rooms?
Usually not. Because dirty water never mixes with the clean water, you can keep mopping from room to room. Top up the clean side when it runs low, swap to a fresh pad between very dirty rooms, and drain the dirty water through the plug at the bottom when you finish.
How do I empty a Cleansage mop bucket?
Both the HydraPro and the AquaPro have a drain plug at the bottom. Take the bucket to a drain or outside gully, pull the plug and let the dirty water run out, then give the chambers a quick rinse. There's no need to lift and tip a full bucket.
Flat mop or spin mop: which is better?
Both clean equally well, because both use clean water for every rinse, and both suit laminate, hardwood, tiles, bathroom floors, shower screens and tiled walls. The difference is how you wring the pad. The HydraPro flat mop uses an up-and-down pump and has a wide head with an edge squeegee. The AquaPro spin mop uses a press and spin, with a square 360° head and a 13-row hair comb. If you have limited grip strength, the HydraPro's pump is the easier action.
What is the best mop for laminate floors?
The best mop for laminate floors is one you can wring nearly dry, because standing water can make boards swell. Both Cleansage sets do this: pump the HydraPro pad nearly dry and finish with its edge squeegee, or spin the AquaPro pad until it's barely damp.
Can I use a mop on hardwood floors?
Yes, on sealed or lacquered hardwood and engineered wood. Use a nearly dry microfibre pad, mop along the grain and don't leave water standing. Oiled or waxed floors need the finish maker's own cleaning products.
Can I clean shower screens and tiled walls with a mop?
Yes. Extend the handle and use a damp microfibre pad on bathroom wall tiles, splashbacks and glass shower screens, then go over them with a nearly dry pad for a streak-free finish. With the HydraPro you can also finish glass with the edge squeegee.

How often should I wash or replace mop pads?
Wash the pads after every clean and let them air dry. Skip fabric softener, because it clogs microfibre. Replace a pad when the fibres look flattened or it stops picking up well. Spare pads for both sets are sold here at ABN Finest.
Can I add floor cleaner to the clean water?
Yes, a small amount of floor-safe cleaner can go in the clean water. Use a pH-neutral cleaner on wood, laminate and stone, and follow your floor maker's guidance. Microfibre also cleans well with plain water.
Which mop is best for pet hair?
Both sets strip hair off the pad as you rinse, so you never touch it. The HydraPro has comb teeth in its wash chamber, and the AquaPro has 13 rows of comb teeth plus nylon-threaded pads that snag fur. Vacuum first when your pet is moulting heavily.
